Chapter 821 sets license expiration on the fifteenth day of the anniversary month, while chapter 823 describes the CE period as ending the day before the exact anniversary of initial licensure. Confirm the operative renewal and CE dates shown by Iowa DIAL before filing.

Iowa requires a license to practice or use protected massage-therapy titles, subject to the exemptions in Iowa Code chapter 152C.

License renewal
Licensees complete 16 hours per biennium. At least 8 hours must be provided in person or through live, real-time interactive media; no more than 8 hours may be asynchronous.
A licensee retains completion evidence for four years and supplies it if selected for audit.
