Illinois licensing
State massage therapist license required
Illinois licenses massage therapists through IDFPR. Current qualifications effective September 2025 identify a 600-hour supervised curriculum, MBLEx, fingerprints, official education and license records, and CORE application.
An Illinois massage therapist license is generally required unless a statutory exemption applies; local business controls may also apply.

Insurance considerations
The reviewed IDFPR qualifications, continuing-education guidance, and Part 1284 did not identify a general statewide professional-liability insurance minimum for every massage therapist. This does not resolve employers, leases, events, contracts, facilities, or local requirements.

IDFPR defines qualifying CE providers, subject allocations, attestation, and audit expectations; the licensing record owns the detailed hour requirement.
